Anna K Jarosz - About Me
Music has always been a fundamental part of who I am and from an early age I knew it would play a significant part in the journey of my life.
I began learning the piano at age 7 years and continued with lessons throughout school, leading to the pursuit of a degree in music at the University of Edinburgh. Piano and Voice were my chosen instruments and I studied and performed both throughout my time there under professional instruction. Alongside these I studied composition and music history, graduating in 2005 with a 2:1 (Hons) Bachelor of Music.

I have since built a colourful musical career as a recording and performing artist, piano & voice teacher and composer. I have been based both in the UK and the US where I moved to in 2008, living in New York City for two years and then Philadelphia for four. I returned to my native Scotland in 2014 to settle close to my family and now live happily in the Scottish Borders with my husband, 5 year old son and 18 month old daughter working as a composer and teacher from my home studio, and performing at private events upon request. Over the span of my career so far I have learned, perhaps more than anything, of the universal power of music to connect us all. It brings joy, heals and provides a medium to express our feelings and emotions like no other language on earth. It is for this reason that I love to teach.
We can all benefit and learn from music in some way that is unique to us. I love to work with children to foster this relationship which, if encouraged and developed from an early age can bring happiness to last a lifetime. That being said, I also believe that it is never too late to learn to play an instrument, and therefore remain open and enthusiastic to work with all ages.
